Do not waste food, plan your next meal – dietitians
Ever wonder how much food goes to waste in United States annually? According to studies, the annual food going to waste, whether at home or dining, averaged 90 billion pounds each year.
That is why the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as part of a national education campaign, wants every American to practice healtheir eating habits and cut down on food wastage.
By managing and planning their diet carefully, people can cut down on unwanted or excessive food purchases. Americans are notorius when it comes to overstocking, which usually results to food going bad.
The study then said that through planning, people will be more conscious with their nutrient intake — even maximizing meals from preparation to transforming leftovers to other use.
Purchasing from nearby farms and shops would also help cut down emissions and lower the cost of meals.
