P57.6M road project in Central Iloilo turned over
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned over to the Lambunao local government unit (LGU) the concreted JNR Agsirab to Bagongbong to Sitio Agdalusan farm-to-market road project, which aims to improve the economic well-being of the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in AGSIBAGO Agrarian Reform Community (ARC).
DAR Undersecretary for Support Services Rosalina Bistoyong led the turnover ceremony held in Barangay Caguisanan, transferring the management and maintenance of the 7.04-kilometer all-weather road.
She said the JNR-Agsirab-bagongbong-sitio Agdalusan farm to market road was implemented to benefit a total of 175 agrarian reform beneficiaries and indigenous peoples (IPs) from neighboring barangays.
The project, which costs around P57.6 million to built, was funded by the Provincial Government of Iloilo and the DAR under the Agrarian Reform Communities Project 2 (ARCP 2) grant, now on its second phase.
Aside from providing support services, Bistoyong said a total development approach must be provided to the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) such as insurance and capital for planting with 6.5 percent interest from the Land Bank of the Philippines to increase the ARBs agricultural production and family income.
