PH eyes foothold in world halal market via Malayasi exhibition
Manila is looking to generate some $5.7 million worth of orders for Filipino companies participating in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2018, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from April 4 to 7.
Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said that 28 locally grown firms will showcase their products – from food, cosmetics, personal care and pharmaceuticals – during the annual event. Team Philippines will have a 19-booth setup to promote their products.
Lopez admitted that the Philippines still has to catch up in terms of halal development that it why it is very important for the local firms to make their mark in the Malaysian exhibit.
To date, worldwide halal market is valued at around $2.6 trillion. Manila, throught the DTI, is looking to export some $1.4 billion of halal-certified products this year.
