Pizza, pastry shops join Pi Day with $3.14 deals
In line with the annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi), math scholars and food lovers alike were treated with $3.14 round deals on pizza, pastry and potpies on Wednesday.
Pi, which is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter or the trillion-digit ratio is rounded to 3.14, now has various equivalent definitions and appears in many formulas in all areas of mathematics and physics. But who cares, right?
Among those joing the Pi Day on Wednesday were BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse with their signature mini one-topping pizzas; Blaze Pizza with build your own pie; Boston Market’s buy one Rotisserie Chicken Pot Pie and a drink and get one pot pie free; Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen with its Homemade Chicken Pot Pie, one of the chain’s most popular items, starts at $7.99 and comes with a house salad.
For its part, Edwards Desserts, the national frozen pie brand, is celebrating Pi Day with a pie giveaway on its Facebook and Instagram pages starting 7 a.m. ET Wednesday.
Fans can enter the fun by commenting on either post with their favorite pie flavor and once the posts reach 314 comments, 100 fans will win a free Edwards’ pie.
