Razon’s to bring famous Halo-Halo to Dubai
Razon’s of Guagua, the iconic Kapampangan food restaurant, is opening its first branch outside the Philippines, taking on other world cuisine in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
In an interview with Khaleej Times, Razon Food Corp. executive vice-president Jose Razon said that the UAE, particularly Dubai, proved to be an easy choice for the company’s first international venture, thanks to streamlined business processing and partnership with local food businessmen.
Razon said that the company first tried the U.S. market but was unsuccessful until they were convinced by their Emirati partners that food, particularly their famous “halo-halo” dessert, will be a hit among the diverse nationalities living in Dubai.
Founded in 1970s, the Pampanga-based restaurant joint now has 74 stores all over the Philippines.
The 75th store, according to Razon, is reserved for something big, adding that they have earmarked Dh1 million for the initial capitalization for the Dubai branch, which will be opened on Tuesday in Karama.
