SRA holds its first ever Farm Mechanization Expo this week
The Sugar Regulatory Adminsitration (SRA) will hold the first ever Philippine Sugarcane Industry Mechanization Expo this week to increase productivity in the sector as well as entice more farmers to join the sugar industry workforce.
The Farm Mechanization Expo will be held at Araneta St., Singcang, Bacolod City and will run starting today until March 16, 2018.
The theme of the event will be “Increasing Productivity through Mechanization”.
SRA Administrator Hermenegildo Serafica said that aside from increasing productivity, the expo also aims to convince sugarcane farmers to stay in the industry as they no longer have to struggle and do it “mano-mano”.
According to him, many sugarcane cutters are now venturing into construction amid the government’s infrastructure push.
This has been slowing down sugar production, Serafica added.
