Want to become a centenarian? Drink alcohol… lots of it
A new study conducted by the University of California (UC) showed that drinking alcohol in moderation can increase your chances of living past 90 or may be even hitting an age of 100.
According to Dr. Claudia Kawas of UC, drinking alcohol on a regular basis (about two glasses of beer or wine) is actually more effective than doing regular exercise when it comes to increase a person’s life expectancy.
It was also found that slightly overweight (but not obese) people aged 70 lived longer than their underweight counterparts.
Some 1, 600 nonagenarians or people between 90 and 99 participated in the study, which started in 2003.
Kawas also said that seniors who stay busy or active (like a hobby or walking) further improve their life expectancy.
