Would you buy your sweet potatoes from this cat costumed food vendor?
Japanese people are known for their unique brand of creativity and love for things kawaii (cute) and a food truck vendor, has been, for the past six years making sure that his loyal patrons get their daily dose of sweet potatoes and free hugs.
It has become a habit for residents of Mikeneko Yamada’s village to welcome each morning with the sight of this Japanese vendor dressed up as a cat. Yamada has been selling a delicacy called the yaki imo which is quite popular during the winter.
In an interview with Weird Wild World, Yamada said that he dresses like a cat because he loves cats and he wanted to remember his past pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. He said that while his pets are gone, he continues to keep them in his heart, and this gave him the idea of transforming into one while going about his livelihood.
Yamada’s cheerful demeanor and his delicious yaki imo have earned him a lot of regular customers who are fellow cat lovers too. His sweet potatoes are no joke either.
Yamada assures that he only gets the best in the region for his customers.
“Cat lovers are definitely friendly. I don’t know about dog lovers but cat lovers are,” he said.
Well, to us, that just sounds absolutely purrrfect. (ANGEL ONG)
