Cheaper rice reaches Ilocos Norte
“Tulong sa Bayan”, a joint project of the government and private sector aimed to bring cheaper rice in the market while waiting for National Food Authority (NFA) to be able to replenish its stocks through importation, is now in the province of Ilocos Norte.
A report showed that as part of “Tulong sa Bayan”, truckloads of rice, which will be sold at P39 per kilo, were recently delivered to Batac and Laoag City.
This was the first batch of low-priced commercial rice that Ilocos Norte will receive from the Ilocos Norte Millers Association.
As of now, the price of commercial rice in the province stands at P45 per kilo.
“This is a great help for our constituents under the initiative of our president and governor to ease the burden in their daily living considering that rice is a staple food among Filipinos,” Provincial Board member Domingo Ambrocio said in a report.
The report also showed that more affordable rice under the “Tulong sa Bayan” program will be delivered in the province in the next few days.
