Homer binges on classic New Orleans dishes in latest ‘Simpsons’ episode
Long running animated series “The Simpsons” recently aired an episode featuring the colorful city of New Orleans in Season 29 Episode 17 entitled “Lisa Gets the Blues.”
The episode deals with Lisa as she is dismissed by Springfield Elementary music teacher Dewey Largo as “a big fish in a small pond” but overall is not a good musician. While the Simpsons were initially set to go visit Eunice in Florida, they get a chance to cheer up Lisa when their flights gets rerouted to New Orleans where Jazz Fest is held.
The episode, of course, touched on all things that the city is famous for like its beautiful architecture, arenas and medical breakthroughs but Homer, being Homer, made it all about food and drink.
In a montage, the show paid tribute to the rich culture and traditions of New Orleans and shone the spotlight on the delicious dishes the city was famous for like gumbo, seafood, sausages, po boy, sandwiches, more po boy, hotdogs, jambalaya, Cajun food, Louisiana cuisine and more. While Homer was binging in all his glory, Lisa looked alternately perplexed and miserable.
All in all, at the end of the episode, Lisa earns her fair share of mishaps and lessons and the Simpsons all come out of the episode in one piece. Its definitely one episode to stir your appetite though. To check out the delicious montage, check the link below.
