Jollibee told to regularize 6,000 workers
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has ordered one of the country’s biggest fast food chains, Jollibee Foods Corporation, to regularize more than 6,000 workers deployed by a couple of contractors.
In a bid to eliminate contractualization in the country, DOLE National Capital Region Director Henry John Jalbuena said in a statement on Wednesday that his office ordered Jollibee to regularize 6,482 workers.
Jollibee was also told to refund 426 workers as much as P15 million in illegally collected payments from the company’s “Coop Share, Coop Christmas Paluwagan Fund, and Coop Savings Fund.”
DOLE also ordered five of Jollibee’s contractors to return P4.1 million in “unlawful wage deductions, bonds, donations, shares, and other illegal payment collections” to 412 workers.
The liable contractors include Citiwide Basic Commodities and Manpower Services, Generation One Resource Service and Multi-Purpose Cooperative, among others.
