Manila to be supplied with 14,000 bags of rice from Isabela, Cagayan
Isabela Rice Millers group from Region 2 will be delivering 14,000 bags of rice to be distributed in Metro Manila markets starting next week in line with the Tulong sa Bayan caravan.
Tulong sa Bayan is a government-led program that aims to supply the market with alternative affordable commercial rice while waiting for the replenishment of National Food Authority (NFA) buffer stocks.
The Tulong sa Bayan caravan is a joint project of the Office of the President, the Confederation of Grains Retailers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (GRECON), the Philippine Confederation of Grains Associations (Philcongrains) and NFA.
Like the previous delivery from Nueva Ecija traders, the rice from Isabela will be sold in Metro Manila markets at P39 per kilogram, NFA said.
20 trailer trucks carrying 700 bags of rice each will particularly converge at the NFA regional office in Isabela on Monday, April 23, at 8:00 to 9:00 in the morning. They are expected to reach Manila the following day.
The trucks will deliver the rice directly to the assigned wholesalers or retailers in Tondo, Malabon, Caloocan, Marikina, Batasan Hills and Parkway Village in Quezon City, Parañaque, and in Tanza, Cavite.
