Piñol to launch ‘Biyaheng Bukid’ book in June
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said a book, which contains a compilation of stories of his journeys to the countryside during the first year of his reign at the Department of Agriculture (DA), will be launched in June of this year.
“Biyaheng Bukid: A Journey of Love” will be Piñol’s second book since he wrote “Feeding Millions” two years ago.
“The publication of the second book would not be possible without the help of my former journalism colleagues who helped piece together all the articles I wrote in this Facebook page since the day I started the nationwide journey to the remotest areas of the country,” Piñol said.
“Former Manila Bulletin news and sports editor, Ding Marcelo and veteran journalists Noel Albano, Bobby Capco, Manny Angeles, Rey Rivera, supported by the staff of the DA Agriculture and Fisheries Information Division (AFID), painstakingly went over the hundreds of articles I have posted and linked them up based on the commonality of threads,” he added.
Piñol said the book is the result of his persistence to write about his Biyaheng Bukid trips while on the run.
According to him, the editors he hired to help him write the book had to do a lot of editorial work since what he did was “actually journalism on the run”.
“Meaning I wrote the articles while I was inside my vehicle traveling from one place to another, in airport terminals, while waiting for the ferry boat to bring me to an island and even while in the plane,” Piñol said.
