PSA records mixed price movements for meat
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said that meat exhibited mixed price movements, depending on location, during the second week of April.
Based on its latest price situationer, PSA observed price changes in meat in selected regional centers.
A price increase of P10 per kilogram of beef lean meat was particularly noted in Cabanatuan City.
The price of a kilogram of pork liempo, on the other hand, fell by P10 in Zamboanga City.
As for dressed chicken, the price for one kilogram increased by P5 in Davao City and by P10 in Kidapawan City. Meanwhile, it went down by P10 in National Capital Region.
Right now, local meat producers are lobbying for the removal of concessionary tariff rates for meat products.
Meat producers, composed of members from the United Broiler Raisers Association (Ubra), Pork Producers Federation of the Philippines (ProPork), Meat Importers and Traders Association (Mita) and Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (Pampi), are now particularly urging the government to follow the recommendation of Washington to lower duties on certain farm products.
