Siblings build resto for the love of food and nostalgia
With all the hurly-burly and stress of the adult life, wouldn’t it be nice to be able to go back to the good old days where life is much simpler and chill? Lucky for Mica Tan she has loving older brothers who vowed to make that happen for her, hence the restaurant Mimi and Bros.
Being one of the youngest CEO in the country at 25, she heads MFT Group which includes 24 companies with a presence in 6 different countries.
Mica’s brothers realized how taxing and demanding this task could be so they put up a place where their little sister could enjoy some downtime.
“We created this for her so she can relax with her friends. She rarely sees her friends, but now that we have this, she just has to go down” said her older brother Dr. Erik Tan, Chief Operating Officer of the MFT Group.
The Tan siblings used to hold cool parties at their family home in Pasig and they used be a regular of Gram’s diner where they’d chill out after work. So when the space became available they seized the opportunity to bring the old times back.
In an interview, Mimi and Bros Chef, Ed Bugia shared the Tan’s siblings vision for their resto.
“Mimi and her brothers used to be known for their parties in Kawilihan Village. So they wanted to bring that vibe here,” he said.
Mimi and Bros features a very chill menu that focuses on only three signatures: Fried chicken, ribs and chops.
“We tried our best to focus on making really, really great great friend chicken and really nice and tender ribs. Sometimes that’s what people need –uncomplicated food.” Chef Ed explained.
Mimi’s Fried Chicken is priced at P685 for the whole chicken with three sides, P425 for half and two sides and 255 for a quarter with one side. You can get the 6-Hour BBQ Beef Shortribs for P658; and the Half a slab of their Smokey Bacon BBQ Pork ribs (good for three) costs P775. With P1,345 you can get a full slab with three sides.
