Suggestion to put SRP for rice brought up anew
Amid the pending transfer of National Food Authority (NFA) to the Department of Agriculture (DA), the suggestion to put a Suggested Retail Price (SRP) for rice has been brought up a new.
A report, which was highlighted by Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol in his social media account, showed that DA and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) are now considering the idea of putting SRPs on rice to avoid overpricing in the market.
The proposal was brought up as Piñol and Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez went to several accredited service outlets of the NFA’s “Tulong sa Bayan Bigas”, where low-priced well-milled rice are being sold, on Wednesday.
Piñol and Lopez were likewise joined by NFA Administrator Jason Aquino at Cartimar Market in Pasay City to check on the service outlets.
