Cesar Montano denies anomalies over controversial “Buhay Carinderia” project
Despite the allegations of new Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat against the “Buhay Carinderia” project, Tourism Promotions Board (TBP) chief Cesar Montano still can’t see anything wrong with it— even if it prompted his agency to pay as much as P80 million for the first tranche.
Moreover, he said he didn received big-time kickback from the controversial “” project.
“Wala po akong kinita diyan. Meron po akong sariling pera,” Montano said in a TV Interview.
On Thursday, Puyat already ordered the suspension of the controversial “Buhay Carinderia” program after Montano allegedly already paid in full the organizers of the event even if the project is not finished. The payment stoond around P80 million.
The marketing organization behind the project is Marylindbert International Inc.
Montano said he will ask Marylindbert if they can return the P80 million since the project has already been postponed.
Asked if he will resign from his position, Montano basically said no, saying “nagta-trabaho pa rin kami”.
