DA looks into illegal entry of carabeef in wet markets
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the Department of Agriculture (DA) is now investigating the illegal entry of Indian buffalo meat (carabeef) in some wet markets in the country.
Based on existing regulations, the Indian buffalo meat is just for processing and not for sale in the wet market.
“We are reviewing the Indian buffalo meat importation because there are some that are slipping into the market which is not supposed to happen,” said in a report in Philippine Star.
“There are some in Marikina and we are having it investigated,” he added.
To be exact, the local processing meat industry imports Indian buffalo meat as a raw material for low-priced corned beef.
