DENR launches book on PAs during Int’l Day of Biological Diversity
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) celebrated this year’s International Day of Biological Diversity (IDBD) with a book launching and a ceremonial turnover of an animal replica.
Through the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), the lead agency tasked to lead the celebration, the DENR has launched the book titled “Guidebook to Protected Areas of the Philippines” along with other events yesterday at the National Museum in Manila.
A ceremonial turnover of a replica of Lolong, which was once the world’s largest crocodile in captivity until his death in February 2013, was also conducted.
The celebration likewise featured the awarding of winners of the Philippine Junior Marketing Association’s 2018 Annual Marketing Competition, which features biodiversity-friendly enterprises as their case study.
The IDBD is celebrated every May 22 annually to commemorate the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
