New York restaurant starts offering gold chicken wings
Do you consider yourself to have expensive tastes? And we mean really expensive taste – literally.
After ice cream and pastries that have actual gold in their ingredients, there’s another craze that is levelling up the fan favorite chicken wing.
Would you want to sample chicken wings covered in 24 carat gold? Not gold coating but actual gold.
An order of these bad boys can cost up to $1000, according to a feature by In the Know, and for god reason.
Brian Mazza, owner of the Ainsworth said that the idea to serve gold coated chicken came from his friend Jonathan Cheban, most popularly known as the Foodgod as they talked about a menu item that would catch people’s interest and become a hit. They came up with the gold coated chicken which is prepared with 12 hours of brining. The wings are then deep fried and flavored with honey buffalo sauce much like regular buffalo wings.
But wait, there’s more, there another layer of coating of melted gold butter which gives the wings the first layer of gold coloring before they are dusted with actual 24 carat edible gold flakes.
An order of 50 wings with a bottle of Ace of Spades can set you back by up to $1,000 but if you simply want to try it out of curiosity, you can get the $45 10-piece set or the 20 pc pack which only costs $90.
Oh, and your airfare to New York. Still it’s a worthy bucket list item, yes? (ANGEL ONG)
