NFA to conduct training on food labeling requirements for PH and US
The Food Development Center (FDC) of the National Food Authority (NFA) will conduct a training course on food labeling requirement for the United States and the Philippines.
This training course is meant to upgrade the understanding of Filipinos on the general food labeling requirements of the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) and the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (PhilFDA) for pre-packaged foods.
The participants will also learn the labeling requirements for nutrient content and health claims, as well as how to draft a product label and the nutrition information on the label based on USFDA and PhilFDA food labeling requirements.
The training course consists of five lectures for six hours and four practical exercises for 18 hours.
The lectures will discuss the USFDA and the PhilFDA general food labeling requirements, basic requirements for the nutrition facts panel, basic requirements for nutrient content and health claims.
The practical exercises will also illustrate USFDA and Phil FDA basic requirements for the evaluation of the mandatory labeling information of prepackaged food and the preparation of a nutrition label.
The training will be held on July 11-13, 2018 at the FDC Compound, East Union Drive Corner ARCA Boulevard, ARCA South (formerly FTI Complex), Taguig City.
