PH-led international food trade show seen to profit lower this year
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is expecting the 12th International Food Exhibition (IFEX) 2018 to generate $34 million less than 2017 levels due to more new players dominating the exhibit.
The agency’s outlook of $150 million or P7.8 billion profit from this year’s IFEX due to less participation of large enterprises.
DTI Undersecretary Nora Terrado explained that many of the participants are first timers who are now ready for exporting.
This, then, allows new entrants to introduce themselves through a widely attended event.
The three-day IFEX 2018 opened on May 25 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City with around 450 local and international food producers and will last until Sunday.
The program is organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the export promotion arm of DTI.
