Are you ready to start your school year with notebooks made from elephant poop?
Are you ready to start your school year with an eco friendly notebook? If your answer is yes, then the next question would be, are you ready to use a notebook that is made from poop?
Yup, you heard right. Poop, as in elephant dung. Vlog site Nas Daily recently featured how a family in Sri Lanka started a company that made 100 percent eco friendly paper from elephant poop.
“This family business helps the local community, local animals, and the country,” he said in his vlog. The video featured how the family got the idea from the volume of dung that elephants generate (which Sri Lanka has plenty of) and came up with an idea to process this material into something useful.
Because elephants are vegetarians, their poop that are filled with fiber so the family decided to try to dry it, clean it. dye it, spread it, compress, it, smooth it, cut it, combine it, and make it into a real paper product.
The product is actually now being exported to other countries and the family business has been generating not only a sustainable product but livelihood for their community.
No sh*t! That’s how you make something worthless, worthwhile. Kudos! (ANGEL ONG)
