Burger King gives free whoppers to female drivers in Saudi Arabia
Burger King created a buzz on social media several months back for its ‘woke’ ad campaigns such as Bullying Jr. followed by a comprehensive explanation of net neutrality. Now they’re at it again, this time for women empowerment.
Burger King Saudi Arabia is now on its first week run of the free whoppHer burger. This is in celebration of the recent legalization of female drivers. Any female driver who goes by the drive-thru will receive a free whopper covered in a special wrapper with an emphasis on the program’s logo and “Celebrating Our Driving Women” copy in both English and Arabic.
“We congratulate the Saudi women,” said Marcelo Pascoa, global head of brand marketing at Burger King Corporation in an article fron Adweek.
This is not the first time Burger King pledged support for equality. Back in 2014 in San Francisco they offered the “Proud Whopper” which is just a regular whopper wrapped in a rainbow colored paper with the words ‘we are all the same inside’ written on it.
“We are happy that once again the brand can derive a benefit to draw attention to relevant matters such as women taking the driver’s seat in Saudi Arabia that represents another step towards social equality.” Pascoa added.
This promo is set to run throughout Saudi Arabia from June 24 to July 24, 2018.
