Coca Cola pays respect to Muslim sacrifice during Ramadan
While Muslims all over the world observe the tradition of Ramadan where they are required to fast from sunrise to sunset for the entire month as part of the Five Pillars of Islam, beverage giant Coca Cola made sure to pay respect to the season with an homage to the sacrifice of our Muslim brothers and sisters borne by their strong faith.
In their video, a Muslim woman is shown walking under the scorching heat, as she is met with ridicule for her clothing, all the while trying to resist her hunger and thirst.
A runner who is about to purchase a Coca Cola drink buys her another one and offers it to her. She politely declines as the runner shakes her head and prepares to take a sip of her drink. Thinking the better of it, she sets down her drink beside the Muslim woman’s and joins her in silence. As the sun sets, signalling the end of the Ramadan fast, both women take their drinks together and smile at each other as the Muslim woman shares the dates she has with the good Samaritan.
The video depicts the values of kindness and respect for different cultures which was appreciated by comments on the video. (ANGEL ONG)
