Jennifer Garner joins crusade for healthy baby food
Jennifer Garner may be a ba*as* when it comes to action movies, portraying roles like secret agent Sidney Bristow in the hit series Alias on television and most recently, a vigilante mom out to seek justice for her family in Peppermint, but in real life, her real challenge is keeping her family fit and healthy with delicious and nutritious food.
In an Entrepreneur interview with Garner, the actress shared that she is now involved with a food company called Once Upon a Farm where she serves as Chief Brand Officer. The company is actually a collaboration between Garner and industry veterans Cassandra Curtis, Ari Raz and John Foraker to come up with a company that offers cold-pressed organic baby foods and applesauces as part of their product line.
Unlike other baby foods however, Garner said that their product employs a “cold press process that puts fruits and veggies extremely high pressure at 87,000 pounds per square inch — to lock in flavor, texture and nutrients, all the while keeping food fresh and safe.” She said this was a healthier option to heat pasteurization which allows baby food to last up to two years in their containers but actually strips the product out of its nutrients and taste.
Garner said that her aim is to educate mothers like herself on healthy alternatives for their children and in the long run offer their products to low income parents.
“We can’t just talk about feeding the top 10 percent of kids, or 50 percent of kids. We have to talk about how to give that nutrition to the bottom half,” she said.
With a champion like Jennifer Garner on their side, Once Upon a Farm sounds like they have a clear direction and a game plan to success. (ANGEL ONG)
