Marcventures continuously “greening” mined out lands
Marcventures Mining and Development Corporation (MMDC) said its rehabilitation program, which largely involves “greening” mined out areas, in its Carrascal Nickel Project in Surigao del Sur is in full force.
Just recently, the company was at the forefront of a tree planting activity in Pili, one of the project’s mined out areas.
To be specific, MMDC personnel planted over 400 seedlings of peanut grass, napier grass, acacia, mangium, and magotambis plant species.
These plants had been grown in MMDC’s nursery and were carefully chosen based on their growth rate, their nitrogen-fixing ability, and their potential in controlling soil erosion.
MMDC Security Manager Gerry Formes said that participating in the tree planting activity brings them joy and fulfilment knowing they are supporting the company’s greening and rehabilitation program.
