Piñol to sign order that will impose SRP on rice, fish
To address the rising prices of commodities, the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) on some basic food items like rice, fish, vegetables will be finally effective starting Monday.
This will be formalized through a Department Order that will be signed by Agriculture Emmanuel Piñol.
An SRP of P39 per kilo on regular milled rice will be implemented as part of this measure.
As for other products, there is now going to be an SRP of P150 per kilo on milkfish; P100 per kilo on tilapia; P140 per kilo on galunggong; P70 per kilo on imported garlic; P120 per kilo on local garlic; P95 per kilo on red onion; and P75 per kilo on white onion.
“We don’t want to see abnormal movements in the price of the market,” Piñol said.
According to him, the SRPs will be reviewed every two weeks.
