Public told to stop hoarding NFA rice

State-run grains agency National Food Authority (NFA) made an appeal to the public to stop “hoarding” NFA rice so others would be able to have an access to it.

NFA director Rex Estoperez admitted that there are some people who will buy NFA rice just to sell them for a higher price.

“Konsensya lang po natin kasi hindi naman araw-araw mayroon tayong mapagkuhanan [ng bigas] lalo na ngayon ano patapos na yung ani at tsaka lean months na,” he said during a Radyo Inquirer interview.

The current suggested retail price for NFA rice stand at P27 to P32 per kilogram.

In Metro Manila, 30 percent of the imported supply from Thailand and Vietnam has already been unloaded and is ready for distribution.
