This gym in Tennessee offers free pizza and bagels
The last thing a person, who just spent hours trying to sweat out calories, wants to see are fattening foods. But a gym in Tennessee is actually using them to attract more members to join.
Planet Fitness offers Pizza Mondays and Bagel Tuesdays to their members. The gym promotes a Judgement-free zone and offering these treats is one way to get that message across according to The Takeout. This is a huge contrast to the usual buff cross-fit crowd who are mostly only consuming protein shakes thus intimidating beginners.
According to the gym’s official website, Planet Fitness Pizza Monday is a tradition that has been going on for 19 years. Some time in 1999, a branch in New Hampshire found themselves without hot water for a few days. Despite the lack of hot showers, members continued to show up to the gym, ready to sweat.
As a “thank you,” the founders ordered a round of slices for everyone. With the success of Pizza Monday, they later on introduced Bagel Tuesdays, offering morning gym-goers free bagels on the second Tuesday of the month. What began as a simple display of gratitude has become a fun way for members to meet, gather and build community.
The gym assures that a slice of pizza will not undo the hard work their customers put in their work out. Moderation is key, and finding the right balance can benefit members in their quest for a healthy lifestyle .
