Filipino mythology depicts garlic as an effective tool to repel vampires and aswangs. Science has revealed that garlic is an effective remedy to many ailments like allergies, coughs and colds, among others.
For some people, there is no other reason needed for enjoying the ingredient except for a love for garlic and this may come as a welcome addition to the bucket list of any garlic lover.
A restaurant in LA and San Francisco is serving almost every imaginable garlic inspired dish which makes it a perfect haven for garlic aficionados from all over the world.
The Stinking Rose restaurant, which can be found in Beverly Hills serves up to 50 garlic dishes on its menu, infusing the flavor of garlic on meats and seafood dishes. They even serve garlic chardonnay which seems kind of weird but is actually one of the most sought after items on the menu.
Co owner Dante Serafini said that the restaurant concept was inspired by the garlic’s rich role in European, Nordic, Asian cuisine and just about any other country in the world.
“Its cross cultural garlic,” he said. “Anywhere you go in the world, you’re going to find garlic as an ingredient in the food.”
The restaurants do so well that they go through an average of 50 tons of garlic a year in just the two locations. Wow, that’s a lot of bawang!
