URC to start manufacturing Vitasoy products here in PH
Gokongwei-led Universal Robina Corp. (URC) will start manufacturing healthy drink Vitasoy here in the Philippines, which will happen through a P1-billion investment to be made by the company to set up a new factory and local production hub for the said product.
Vitasoy products are currently being imported from Hong Kong.
A report from the Inquirer showed that URC is planning to build a factory in Pampanga for Vitasoy products.
This, according to the report, is in line with URC’s joint venture with Hong Kong’s Vitasoy group, which aims to roll out “high-quality, nutritious and sustainable” food and beverage products in the Philippine market.
Established in 1940, Vitasoy is a leading international manufacturer and distributor of a food and beverage portfolio focused on sustainable plant-based nutrition. Its products include soy and other types of plant milk as well as tofu under the Vitasoy brand.
URC chair Lance Gokongwei said the new factory would start commercial operation by next year.
