DTI says higher number of people eating out reflects economic growth

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said people eating more and more in restaurants reflects the growing Philippine economy.

Yung mga kumakain sa eat-all-you-can, kumakain na sa mas mamahaling restaurant,” Lopez said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990 AM, which was later on picked up by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

He added that this development could be one of the characteristics of a growing economy, also citing a Social Weather Station (SWS) survey that says Filipinos have more money now than before.

Ibig sabihin ho, mas marami silang hawak ng pera, Lopez further said in the report.
