Farmers advised to check out PH’s color-coded agri guide map
Farmers who intend to find out what kind of commodity to plant in their farms are advised to check out the National Color-Coded Guide Map in order to maximize the value of their landholdings.
“For ages, Filipino farmers were left on their own in determining what crop would be ideal for their farms. So, they went through the time consuming and expensive process of experimentation where he would cut down the crops that did not bear fruit and plant again,” Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said.
“I took this problem to heart and the first project I focused on when I became Secretary of Agriculture was a national data center on Crop suitability,” he added.
Through the National Color-Coded Agriculture Guide Map, anybody who would like to know what to plant in his farm could just access the website and in seconds will get the information that he needs.
The same site will also tell the farmer where to drill for water, what nutrient is deficient in his soil, and what are the risks and hazards he has to contend with.
