Firm who brought Shakey’s to PH hunts for other brands
US-based pizza restaurant chain Shakey’s Pizza has been shutting down its stores, which could be a trigger to the company who brought the popular brand to the Philippines to be “hungry” for other brands.
Columnist Victor Agustin brought this up in one of his articles, adding how Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc., a company listed at the Philippines Stock Exchange, now wants to amend its articles of incorporation and revise its primary purpose precisely to accommodate such planned acquisitions.
“Such an amendment will allow the company to operate restaurant brands other than Shakey’s,” PIZZA, as cited by Agustin, then said.
This, while its former US parent had shrunk to 51 stores after closing down its lone Hawaii branch early this month.
During its history, Shakey’s United States hit a high of about 500 stores in 1974.
