Global Farm Tourism Summit opens tomorrow
The Global Farm Tourism Summit will open tomorrow at the Summit Ridge Hotel in Tagaytay City.
Mina T. Gabor, president of the International School of Sustainable Tourism (ISST), said in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report that the event would offer opportunity for the exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences among different countries, as well as local delegates, participating in the international conference.
Gabor, who is a former tourism secretary, said more Filipino farmers were becoming interested in developing their farms into tourist destinations to supplement their income from crop production.
“Demand for this kind of travel program was growing”, she further said in the report.
Right now, more farmers were opening up their land to visitors as the government starts giving incentives and other forms of support, which is required under the Farm Tourism Development Act.
