Oxfam’s Hunger Banquet showcases unfair food distribution in the world
The Nas Daily vlog recently featured a social experiment spearheaded by Oxfam America called the Hunger Banquet. In the video entitled The Most Unfair Dinner, Nas invites his friends over for dinner and asks them to pay the exact amount for it.
The first friend gets a five star treatment with high class food. The second set receives a fastfood meal at the living room. The last couple unfortunately gets a handful of rice which they have to eat outside while sitting on the grass at the yard.
The experiment highlights how the same amount of money will have different bearings in different parts of the world. And with such, the unequal distribution of food in different countries.
“We are all born as equal human beings but we are not born in equal circumstances,” he said. If one is born in a poor country, then costs are higher and access is much more difficult to food, resources and communication. When a person is born in a richer country with a much more stable economy and environment, goods are much more accessible and available.
In conclusion, Nas said that seeing the inequalities being experienced in the world should inspire people to work hard to close the gaps to make everyone enjoy the same benefits being enjoyed by rich countries. (ANGEL ONG)
