PH receives 60 metric tons of dates from Saudi Arabia as gifts

This, after Kingdom of Saudi Arabia donated as much as 60 metric tons of pressed dates to the Philippine government.
Dates are fruit that are native to Northern Africa and the Middle East.
The special gift, which Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz considered as an affirmation on the depth of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Saudi Arabi, was coursed through the Philippine Red Cross, a report in Manila Bulletin showed.
“This gift is part of the Kingdom’s humanitarian and social contribution to the Philippines besides its keen concern to send humanitarian relief assistance to the victims of natural calamities and crisis in different devastated areas of the country in the past years,” Saudi Ambassador to the Philippines Abdullah Al Bussairy said in the report.
He also said the donation is “a fitting act to address hunger and poverty and mitigate humanitarian problems across the world.”
