Prepare for extreme spiciness with Indonesia’s Death Noodles
The Spicy Noodle Challenge has been the source of internet fodder for the past couple of months with regular folk, and even celebrities filming their attempt to try 2x nuclear spice challenge and surviving this.
But if you’re really an adventurous eater with a penchant for spicy food, then you may want to include this Indonesian restaurant in your bucket list of places to go before you die, because in this small joint, you will meet the Indomie Pedas Mampus otherwise known as the Death Noodles.
The name itself sounds ominous and it should be, because these noodles brings tears to even the strongest and bravest of contenders. It can be found at Abang Adek restaurant in Jakarta and ranks 20 million SHU on the Scovile Scale putting it at the top of the list of the hottest noodles in the world.
The noodles start off as your regular Indo Mie Goreng that you find on your local grocery store, but the staff levels up the spiciness by infusing Abang Adek’s signature chilis to kick up the spiciness level of the dish.
The good news is that the store offers different levels of spiciness so there’s still some hope left for your taste buds after the noodle encounter. Proceed with caution. You have been warned. (ANGEL ONG)
