SoKor grants PH funds for Smart Greenhouse Project
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the country’s agriculture sector is “already starting to harvest the fruits” out of the bilateral meeting last month between President Rodrigo Duterte and South Korean President Moon Jae In.
This, as the Memorandum of Agreement was just signed between the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Korea Agency for Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (EPIS) for the latter’s $2.43-million grant for a Smart Greenhouse Project here in the Philippines.
Piñol said the Smart Greenhouse Project, which will involve the development of Smart Greenhouse Projects in Benguet Province, will be implemented with the assistance of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
It is aimed at “enhancing productivity and producing high quality tomato through Smart Greenhouse in the Philippines”, as per Piñol.
During Duterte’s visit in South Korea last month, the DA also secured a P28-billion fruit supply contract with South Korea’s biggest supermarket chain Emart.
