DAR hopeful to get 2019 budget proposal
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is hopeful to get its budget proposal amounting to P8.2 billion for next year.
DAR, in fact, already got the support of Anak Mindanao (AMIN) Party List Representative Amihilda Sangcopan for the said proposal.
Agrarian Reform Secretary John R. Castriciones said that the agency made the 2019 budget proposal for DAR-CARP based on the National Expenditure Program (NEP) comprising of Personnel Services (PS) (P4.506 billion), Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) (P3.55 billion) and Capital Outlay (147.960 million).
On the other hand, DAR’s tiller’s security of tenure program has a P2.47 billion budget, while tiller’s rights and welfare has P806.052 million budget. Agrarian reform beneficiaries development and sustainability program and foreign assisted projects has P1.9 billion under the 2019 NEP.
“For 2019, DAR aims to distribute 41,077 hectares of land which will benefit a total of 31,132 agrarian reform beneficiaries”, Castriciones said.
As of now, DAR has been able to distribute 4.79 million hectares to 2.84 million agrarian reform beneficiaries from 1972 to March 2018.
