MWSS to address water supply issues in today’s MAP Forum
Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Administrator Reynaldo V. Velasco will address today water supply issues at a forum organized by the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), the country’s leading organization committed to promoting management excellence for nation-building.
The forum titled “Ensuring Water Security and Sustainability” and a project of the MAP Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CCSD) Committee brings together water leaders and environment officials from various organizations to discuss the various plans of the government, public and private sectors in ensuring water security and sustainability in the country.
“This forum comes at a time when our country is witnessing the phenomenal growth of infrastructure aligned with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Build, Build, Build initiative,” Velasco said.
“I am proud to inform you that water infrastructure is not far behind,” he added.
For his part, MAP President and Maynilad CEO and President Ramoncito S. Fernandez said as players in the water industry, utilities need to realize that the challenges that they are facing are huge.
“Sustainable solutions to these problems may require putting our heads – if not our resources – together,” Fernandez said.
Also attending the forum is Manila Water President and CEO Ferdinand Dela Cruz.
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Environment Office Chief John Edgar will also give a talk on water sustainability.
