NFA releases rice for fire victims in Jolo
The National Food Authority (NFA) said it has just released 1,087 bags of rice for victims of a huge fire that hit Jolo last week.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has particularly requested 150 bags of rice from NFA Zamboanga, while the City Government of Valenzuela bought 937 bags.
“Distribution to fire victims is scheduled today,” NFA said.
To be specific, the fire left 30,000 residents homeless in barangays Lambayong, Busbus and the Walled City.
Employees of NFA Tawi-Tawi donated clothes and grocery items for the victims.
The NFA maintains memorandum of agreements with relief agencies for immediate issuance of rice during emergencies and calamities.
As of August 3, a total of 9,666 bags of rice were already issued by the NFA to various relief agencies and local government units (LGUs) for typhoons Gardo, Henry, Inday, and Josie.
