WWF’s interactive game helps you measure how sustainable your food choices are
In a bid to promote sustainable dining in the Philippines, WWF recently launched the BalayKawayan App which is a free game that allows users who ask as customers to place their orders from an interactive menu.
After consuming the virtual meal, the waiter presents a receipt to the customers but instead of bearing the cost total for the entire meal, it is a carbon footprint receipt which shows the environmental impact of the meal to Mother Nature. Carbon emissions are considered as leading contributors to climate change and a sustainable diet from smart food choices help minimize carbon footprints.
Aside from posting reminders on the importance of sustainable dining, the game also adjusts the environment after you pay out your bill, depending on your order so you get to see how your choices impact the environment. That’s pretty cool. (ANGEL ONG)
