Agriculture commodities cost higher in last week of August
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said the price of agriculture commodities during the last week of August were mostly higher.
For instance, it said that price increases in rice during the week are observed in many regional centers.
The price of rice of special rice in Baguio particularly increased by P5 per kilogram and in Tuguegarao City by P1 per kilogram, while 10 regional centers exhibited price mark-ups ranging from P1 to P5 per kilogram of premium rice and well milled rice during the period.
As for the prices of meat and poultry items, it remain unchanged, albeit mostly higher, in many regional centers.
“A P30 per kilogram price gain of beef lean meat was observed in the National Capital Region. In Butuan City, prices of beef lean meat and beef with bones dropped by P10 per kilogram. Price hikes of P5 and P10 per kilogram of dressed chicken were registered in six regional centers,” PSA said.
Selected regional centers also posted varying price changes in some fish species during the week.
Prices of galunggong specifically went up by P10 and P20 in seven regional centers. On the other hand, it decreased by P10 in Tuguegarao City and by P20 in Zamboanga City.
