BFAR lifts red tide warnings over Palawan coastal waters
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said that Puerto Princesa and Honda Bays in Palawan are now free of the toxic red tides.
This means that all types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the areas above are already safe for human consumption.
Meanwhile, based on the latest laboratory results of the BFAR and Local Government Units (LGUs), shellfishes collected atMatarinao Bay in Eastern Samar; Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur; coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; and coastal waters of Milagros in Masbate are still positive for paralytic shellfish poison that is beyond the regulatory limit.
