Chinese restaurant’s stock value falls after dead rat woes
A report that showed a dead rat was found in a hotpot meal served in one of Xiabu xiabu Catering Management China Holdings Co.’s restaurants sent the value of the company’s stocks sliding last week.
A report in Bloomberg showed that Xiabu xiabu Catering’s stocks fell by 11 percent in Hong Kong last Tuesday.
This, after authorities in Weifang City, in East China’s Shandong Province, conducted food safety checks at one of Xiabuxiabu’s restaurants there. A report then surfaced in the social media that a customer found a rat in a hotpot meal served by the store.
While the company denied this, authorities still ordered the restaurant to suspend operations.
