DAR to build municipal, provincial offices in Samar
The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said it will soon have its permanent municipal and provincial offices in the province of Samar after it recently secured a couple of donated land sites in the area.
With a total area of 700 square meters, the sites are located in the towns of Paranas and Catbalogan.
“This gesture of goodwill [by these towns] is to show DAR appreciation for helping the local government units improve the lives of the farmer-beneficiaries in the area,” the agency said in a statement.
Right now, DAR spends P250,000 and P140,000 monthly rent for its provincial and municipal offices in the province.
“Now, we can begin to make plans and provide the necessary financial requirements to put up the DAR’s new offices, which would eventually yield savings to the department,” DAR Region 8 Director Sheila Enciso said,
Paranas Mayor Eunice Babalcon said the province of Samar appreciates the DAR’s efforts in helping the farmers improve their agricultural and economic lives.
