DA’s TienDa nets P2M in one day
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) TienDA, where agriculture products are sold directly by farmers, netted P2 million in the span of one day.
“Farmers and fishermen who brought their produce to the Department of Agriculture’s TienDA in the Bureau of Plant Industry Compound in Manila and the DA Central Office in Quezon City earned P2 million in just one day on Friday,” Piñol said.
TienDA’s combined profit for the last three days has yet to be computed.
To be specific, the DA Agribusiness and Marketing Office reported that total day sales in the DA Central Office amounted to P725,360 while sales from NFA rice totaled P120,000.
Over at the BPI Compound in San Andres, Manila, gross sales as of yesterday totalled P1.2 million.
The TienDA in both areas reopened today with huge crowds enjoying fresh vegetables, fish, fruits, chicken and rice at farm gate prices, Piñol said.
