NFA releases 4,812 bags of rice for Ompong victims
The National Food Authority (NFA) said it has already released 4,812 bags of rice to relief agencies and local government units (LGUs) for distribution to typhoon Ompong victims in regions 2, 3, 4 and 5.
In Region 2, a total of 2,000 bags had been particularly released to various relief agencies and LGUs from September 14 to 15.
For the same period, a total of 1,085 have been released in Region 3, while a total of 1,040 bags were released to the LGUs of Region 4.
In region 5, a total of 687 bags were issued to the LGUs of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.
Additional 6,000 bags of rice were also dispersed from NFA-NCR to boost supplies in Region 2 that has so far been the worst hit by Ompong.
Right now, all NFA Operations Centers in the affected regions are open 24 hours to monitor the situation and provide quick response to any rice needs for typhoon victims.
“The NFA management assures that the agency is ready to provide services in areas affected by the typhhon and NFA personnel in affected areas are willing to render overtime work even if they are victims themselves,” NFA said in a statement.
